- Andy is working with a London construction company to help the co-owners review whether the way they run their thriving businesss meets their own needs and values. This is with a view to developing motivation and relationships in the workplace.
- Andy continues to provide long-term support to a local charity in Brighton where he's conducting an organisational review and introducing a new, non hierachial mananagement system. As part of this process he's training the workers group and Trustees in peer review.
- Andy has been conducting mediations both in workplaces and within the community using conflict transformation principles.
- Starting in December, in Amman, Jordan, Selene Aitken will help local counsellors, psychologists and animators to run groups with Iraqi refugees that are truly connected to the Iraqi's needs. This is part of Terres des hommes' on-going child protection project.
- In Lebanon, Sarri Bater is supporting a child protection project in the Palestinian camps around Tyre in the south. She is helping local staff use conflict transformation ideas to develop relationships in the camps. She is also influencing the nature of the management of the project. The project is for two years.
- In Egypt Andy Mason is providing telephone coaching for senior managers of a corporation based in Cairo. These managers have steadily introduced conflict transformation concepts and skills into their management practice with their staff and peers.

Conflict for individuals and groups, in the workplace and the community, is common the world over. It’s part of being alive and reflects people's vital life force vying to find ways to meet their needs - such as contribution, meaning, connection, security and, ultimately, life. Conflict can be healthy when it serves life. But what happens when it becomes unhealthy, when people in work or at home are left feeling angry, ashamed or scared?
The impact of unhealthy conflict on the lives of individuals in organisations and communities is immense. Some say that ‘it’s inevitable and part of life’. At MLCT we would find it easy to accept this if it wasn’t for the outcomes we’ve witnessed working with people in conflict. From our work, and moreover from a vast array of conflict transformation literature, it’s evident that unhealthy conflict isn’t inevitable and there are now powerful, trusted, methods in use on all continents having a deep impact on communities and workplaces.
MLCT is a small specialist consultancy offering support and training on conflict transformation and related topics such as mediation, assertiveness and staff management as well as personal therapy. Our services are backed by our own in-depth training, many years of experience and application of ideas in our own lives.
Being a two-person organisation means if you email or ring you’ll be in touch with Andy Mason or Tamara Laporte. We’re not strategising to grow or expand and we don’t chase work by pretending we are specialists in any topic. We’re not solely motivated by profit. Instead, our clear intent comes from personally experiencing conflict transformation in ourselves as well as in our clients around the world. We are dedicated conflict transformation workers. It’s what we do. If you think we might be able to offer you support or ideas we’d be delighted to know. We're sure we'll learn from you in the process. |
