Online and Telephone Coaching

Our online and telephone coaching service is an excellent way for people from all parts of the world to benefit from our specialist approach to Conflict Transformation. Where a high speed internet connection is available, conversations can be conducted without having to pay for a phone call. Where the internet connection is slower we can still communicate by text messaging through on-line provders like Skype and Messenger. You can also contact us through the ALIVECHAT link at the bottom of the left hand panel of this page.

What is coaching? (see footnote*)

Coaching is a process by which individuals get support to introduce new ideas into their lives and thus transform their personal and work situations. The coaching conversations focus on whatever the individual wants to talk about such as:

  • personal conflict with a friend, colleague or community
  • a leadership issue
  • planning and delivering a community project

Examples of recent conversations include:

  • a manager in Egypt working on a conflict with their colleagues
  • a project leader in Nigeria planning an HIV awareness campaign
  • a student in Buthan researching ways to respond to the situation in Zimbabwe

Our role at MLCT is to challenge thinking, introduce different concepts and perspectives and then support the individual as they play with these ideas in their daily thinking and being.

What is the format?

Coaching works through an agreed series of weekly conversations. Typically coaching conversations last between thirty minutes and one hour. At the end of each conversation we agree with you what you will do before we talk again. A series of between four and eight conversations is usually sufficient to bring a real shift for the individual.

*Footnote - in the rapidly growing world of personal coaching the goal is often seen as 'helping people get what they want' or 'achieve what they want to achieve'. While striving for what you achieve, can be useful and necessary at times, at MLCT we believe that some striving can contribute to conflict or personal disquiet. Sometimes the 'answer' might be 'to stop striving'. Therefore, whilst we certainly coach people to 'get what they want' we often find, especially in conflict situations, that 'what they want' is not what they think they want when they first make contact.
